Purpose of the Foundation   


::. To allow for study, on a contractual basis and in an autonomous way, of current social, economic and political problems associated with the development of Russian history and World history; 

::. to contribute to the professional training of new generation scientists and politicians in order to reinforce the moral and humanistic foundations of people and of society;

::. to divulge scientific notions, provide consultation services and promote activities that keep people informed in accordance with the Foundationšs purpose and vision.

 

The Foundation's Study Program  


The Foundation's study program has been centred on the following issues: 

::. problems concerning globalisation, economic development and social strife in the world, in Russia and in countries of the Community of Independent States (ex USSR);

::. problems of cultural and spiritual life over the course of the centuries;

::. the process of European union and integration;

::. international security and disarmament;

::. the history of the Perestrojka in the USSR.

The motto used to summarise the Foundation's study program is "Towards the construction of a new civilisation".

Since its conception, the Foundation has fostered several important studies, many of which have been formally presented to the United Nations and other international organisations.

Among these, we would like to mention:

::. "Global Security" (written in collaboration with the American Gorbachev Foundation and the Rajiv Ghandi Foundation of India);

::. "National Interest and Security Problems in Russia" (written in collaboration with the Carnegy Corporation, USA); 

::. "National Interest of Russia and of the Community of Independent States";

::. "Agriculture: Private Property, Democracy and Marketing" (written in collaboration with the Calgary University Trust-Fund and the Canadian Gorbachev Foundation). 

 

Methodology   


Methodology The Gorbachev Foundation has published more than seventy books and brochures since 1992. 

It has also organised numerous lectures and international, round table discussions both in Russia and in the rest of the world.

 has written numerous reports and lectured in Russia, the USA, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Jordan, Japan as well as other countries. T

hose who collaborate with the Foundation co-ordinate their efforts and study programs in Russia and abroad, participating in meetings and taking part in international conferences.
