The
Principle Activity |
|
|
The principle activity of the Gorbachev Foundation is
centred on humanitarian aid and charity, especially with
regards to children.
It is worth mentioning, for example, the participation
of the Foundation in the work of "Hematologists of
the World", an international association the
Foundation supports and sponsors. It is also a strong
supporter of the "Leucosis in Russia" Program
and has provided valuable assistance to Russian medical
organisations such as the "Child Hematology
Institute of Study and Research" and the "Child
Centre for the Transplantation of Marrow", in whose
creation it actively participated.
The Foundation also helps war veterans and gives support
to a wide range of organisations of cultural and
artistic affiliation.
With regards to socio-economic and political studies,
the Foundation is currently involved in developing the
following programs: "Globalisation and Peace in the
21st Century" and "European Project and
Prospects for a Pan-European Integration". Studies
also continue on the theme of "National Interest
and Security Problems in Russia".
The Gorbachev Foundation, through the activities of its
office in Italy, has been organising for the last few
years the "World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates",
bringing together on a regular basis famous people who
have received the Nobel Prize for their efforts in
favour of peace in the world. The purpose of the Summit
is to elaborate projects and solutions so that heads of
State, politicians and the international public opinion
can formulate new ways for people to live together based
on peace, tolerance, and respect for individual rights.

The
Foundation's Resources |
|
|
The Foundation is able to maintain itself and support
its programs thanks to membership fees, voluntary
payments, donations and contributions from organisations,
banks, State businesses, international corporations,
body corporate and citizens in the form of money, real
estate, and other types of contributions in accordance
with the laws in force.
It is important to
note, however, that the majority of the Foundation's
resources comes directly from its President, M. S.
Gorbachev, due to copyright proceeds from his books and
the contributions he receives for participating in
seminars, conferences, lectures and conventions all over
the world.

In
the Future |
|
|
In the future, the Gorbachev Foundation will further
develop the study and analysis of the current process of
globalisation, its most important connotations and the
concept of "compatible development", taking
into consideration the new technology and characterising
humanitarian values of the 21st Century.
